Ellen G. White, who the SDA Church upholds as divinely inspired and correcting of inaccurate interpretations of scripture, claimed to be shown in vision by God that all the angels that are commissioned to visit the earth hold a golden card, which they present to the angels at the gates of the city as they pass in and out.
In the July 4, 1905 issue of The Youth’s Instructor, an official publication of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, commenting on this statement, they write that this “golden card” functions as a passport, perhaps lest the evil angels or Satan should transform themselves into angels of light, and get into the city. If they don’t possess one of these “golden cards,” they are barred from entering.
This is precisely how the SDA Church views Ellen White’s writings, though. They are suppsoedly the “lesser light” that sheds extra details onto the “greater Light” (ie: the Bible) that aren’t actually found in the Bible.
Unsurprisingly, Mrs. White was not getting this information from God in vision, but utilized “literary borrowing” from William Foy’s 1845 The Christian Experience of William Foy—a book she “borrowed” multiple concepts, ideas and exact phrases from, all in the same supposed vision.
The Bible nowhere states, implies, or even indicates such a thing. This is what we call an “Advent-ism.”
