The Adventist prophetess—Ellen G. White—who the SDA Church believes was divinely inspired no differently than the biblical writers and that her interpretations of scripture correct inaccurate interpretations—claimed that, when Jesus was telling the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37), the Levite and the priest from the parable were present in the crowd.
The Bible does not say this. Jesus’s parables contained generic titles to convey a general point and not specific individuals. While they could have been two real individuals, the inspired biblical text does not tell us. Ellen White adds to the biblical text with this detail which is insight into how she functions for the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Her writings are the “lesser light” that sheds extra details onto the “greater Light” (ie: the Bible) that aren’t actually found in the Bible.
This is what we call an “Advent-ism.”
