The Adventist Church will be quick to say no, he’s simply revealing what is to be true for the onlooking intelligences of the universe to see that He is just and fair in saving those who He will save.
This is one of the many breakdowns in their system, though. Ellen White, the movement’s prophetic authority, claimed that Jesus began the Investigative Judgment to show who is and isn’t entitled to the benefits of His atoning sacrifice. The Bible teaches Jesus already knows those who are His (2 Timothy 2:19, John 10:27-8) and He will never lose any of them. They were given to Him by the Father and it was the Father’s will from all eternity that Jesus not lose any of them (John 6:38-40).
The scriptures say nothing about Jesus investigating all who have made a profession of faith to see if they are sincere or not and worthy of His atoning benefits. Nor does the Bible anywhere say that God has to vindicate His character against the accusations of Satan and clear His name—which is ultimately what they claim the Investigative Judgment is about.
