The eucharist (meal of thanksgiving) has been central in the Christian church’s worship for 2000 years. While Protestants, Roman Catholics, Orthodox, etc. have debated over the mechanics and nature of Christ’s presence in the Supper, it has served as one of the central means of grace in the church from it’s New Testament inception.
Practiced only every 13th Saturday of the quarter, few may be aware of the unique spin the SDA Church has put on this sacrament which is—like all of SDA theology—filtered through the great controversy theme and is infused with the practice of foot washing. It’s finally time to break the ice on this important subject.
