Did Satan offer to help Jesus with the plan of Salvation?

The Adventist prophetess—Ellen G. White—who the SDA Church believes was divinely inspired no differently than the biblical writers and that her interpretations of scripture correct inaccurate interpretations—bizarrely claimed that, when tempting Christ in the wilderness, Satan offered to help Jesus with the plan of salvation.

Scripture says no such thing, but this is how Ellen White functions within the SDA Church. They think she gives inspired commentary on the biblical text and gives added details from God not found in the text.

She also states that Satan claimed:

1. To be sent on an errand of mercy to sympathize with him [Jesus], and to relieve him of his suffering condition.
   
   
2. God did not require him [Jesus] to pass through self-denial and the sufferings he anticipated;
   
   
3. That he [Satan] was sent from Heaven to bear to him [Jesus] the message that God only designed to prove his willingness to endure.
   
   
4. That he [Satan] was the angel that stayed the hand of Abraham as the knife was raised to slay Isaac, and he had now come to save his [Christ’s] life; and
   
   
5. That it was not necessary for him [Christ] to endure the painful hunger and death from starvation

The Bible nowhere says any of this, but simply that Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by Satan as he fasted and prayed for 40 days (Matthew 4:1-4, Mark 1:12-13, Luke 4:1-2). This was to demonstrate that Jesus, as the second Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45-49, Romans 5:12-15), did what the first Adam failed to do—obey God’s Word perfectly, overcoming temptation.

None of these extra details are found in the Bible and cannot be affirmed by a movement that claims to “only believe the Bible.” This is insight into how the SDA Church views Ellen White’s writings. They are the “lesser light” that sheds extra details onto the “greater Light” (ie: the Bible) that aren’t actually found in the Bible.

This is what we call an “Advent-ism.”
