The Adventist Gospel has been branded as the Three Angels Messages (or Everlasting Gospel) using language from Revelation 14:6-12. They believe the fullness of the Gospel fell away and God raised their movement up to restore it. While the biblical text says very little that is explicit, the Adventist Church, by way of Ellen G. White, believe they have inspired insight to the true meaning of any biblical text. The Third Angels Message is claimed to be derived from Revelation 14:9-12.
The SDA Church sees the Third Angels Message as a warning against receiving the Mark of the Beast, which they claim will be worshiping on Sunday (what they call the papal sabbath) by submitting to a Papal decree when a National Sunday Law is passed which will eventually turn international. It also includes their message of health reform which is “the right hand of the Gospel.”
According to their eschatology, the final battle between good and evil will be fought over the day of worship. Those who keep the Seventh-day Sabbath will receive the Seal of God, while those who observe Sunday will receive the Mark of the Beast. This is why their narrative around the papacy changing the sabbath is so important to their framework. We’ve debunked this myth here.
They claim that all of the world will unite under the leadership of Satan to impose these Sunday laws upon Seventh-day Adventists. Eventually, Sunday laws will be passed requiring a death sentence for anyone who refuses to worship on Sunday.
The key verse in this is Revelation 14:12. The phrase “commandments of God”—in their minds—are those who keep the 10 Commandments perfectly. And the “faith of Jesus” is those who have a faith, not just in Christ, but a faith at the level of his. Thus, they will then ask “what church is keeping all 10 of the commandments and not just 9?” to segue into why you need to join their church because they’re the only ones upholding all ten of the commandments. In their minds, this only further solidifies the seventh-day sabbath being the final test in the end.
On top of all of this, this message also entails the Adventist message of health reform which includes embracing a vegetarian (preferably vegan) diet in order to be fitted for the New Earth and translation. If you are truly awaiting the return of Christ you will completely give up all meats.
This is not the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news about salvation through the Person and work of Jesus. Not that worshiping God on one particular day means you are worshiping a false god and need to join the Seventh-Day Adventist Church or that you must be a vegetarian to be physically fit for Heaven. This is a modern form of Judaizing which says one must come to God a specific day to truly come to Him (just like the Judaizers in Galatia tried saying one must be circumcised before they can come to Christ).
This is cult-style fear mongering to scare people into membership. It is an addition to what Jesus Christ revealed to the apostles as the only true Gospel (Galatians 1:6-9, Romans 1:16-17)—making the Adventist message a false gospel (2 Corinthians 11:1-4).
