SDA pastor and AmazingFacts ( @AmazingFacts ) president, Doug Batchelor ( @PastorBatchelor ) gave a talk some years back titled “Is Sunday Sacred,” wherein he proceeded to misrepresent Christians, but more specifically, those of us that affirm first day Sabbatarianism. While the gist of his claims are simply recycled talking points that the SDA Church has parroted for almost two centuries, his talk serves as a perfect example for Adventists and non-Adventists alike to see how the SDA Church relies on misrepresentation and strawmen to bolster their own position over and against the Christian church.
In part 1 we look at the Genesis account, all of the New Testament references to “the first day,” as well as some other standard claims the SDA Church makes.
