Ty Gibson, Neo-Adventism, and the SDA Catch 22! | Part 1

Now in what I’m covering this morning I am uh not going to give a bible study this morning this first one will be an introduction this will be an analysis of uh two different gospels you have two gospel trees in front of you two descriptions of the Gospel I’ll be putting the very same things up here on the screen so you can see exactly where we are at each point and uh we will look at what these really mean what how to identify them how to make an intelligent decision about them and we will try to understand how best we can determine which is the true gospel in fact the

Real issue the real question for today is very simple what is unique what is special about seventh day adventism what makes adventism worth living for and yes even Dying For What is the key point of adventism and no it is not the Sabbath no it is not the state of man in and death no it is not even the second coming of Jesus Christ the heart and soul of what makes adventism unique special and different is its understanding Believe It or Not of how a person is saved by the life and death of Jesus Christ this is the great great danger of the Seventh Day Adventist

Church today is a compromised gospel everything else every problem that we have in the church today no matter what controversies we have flow out of that that is the root cause which is why I don’t spend much time talking about symptoms of apostasy and there are quite a few of them but I want to talk about the root cause of apostasy and that is living believing and being persuaded that a gospel is not quite what we thought it was it’s a it’s an easier gospel it’s a gospel which is more comfortable to me a gospel I can live in and still sin a fair amount and

I’m still okay what’s up y’all as always welcome and thank you for being here happy New Year um what we just saw was a small clip from a longer talk that we have responded to in full some months back from SDA Pastor Dennis prey and I wanted us to watch that as a reminder of the identity crisis that exists within Advent ISM Mr prie will be somewhat uh Vindicated tonight because we’re going to be looking at an individual that is a purveyor of what Dennis and those like him label as a false gospel that Satan has brought into the SDA Church to begin growing a

Separate gospel tree as he called it that isn’t true adventism while Dennis preby is right that there are two fundamental uh gospel trees growing under the Adventist Banner what he failed to discuss in that presentation is the source of life for both of them what we might call the great controversy River both of these trees are growing on separate sides of that River but are drinking from the same source which sustains them so we are going to hop over that River tonight and we are going to visit another camp in the SDA Campground where the Tai Gibsons the Tim

Jennings the Tim Gillespies of the movement have planted their flag I need to start by saying that tonight’s presentation is by viewer request lots of people over the last uh six months or so have asked us to address what I call the Neo Adventist branch of 7th Day adventism to do that we are going to be looking at a portion of a presentation that Adventist Pastor Ty Gibson gave a few weeks ago but before getting in too far I want to share a comment that we received from a 7th Day Adventist last week because it serves as a perfect example for why tonight’s presentation

Needs to take place actually before we bring that up I want to give a shout out to my friends over at the eschatology matters podcast who sent me this very awesome 1888 original Edition it’s even got mold growing on the pages I may pay to have it restored and rebound but it is an original 1888 Edition Bible reading for the home Circle and there is just a lot a lot of heresy in this original book if you know about this book um you know what I’m referring to so shout out to those guys over there for thinking about me I guess they were at a thrift store and they found that

And uh contacted me and sent me a picture and said uh hey I think this uh it sounds like an Adventist Book would that interest you I said buy it buy it um so thank you gentlemen for thinking about me thank you for adding that to our collection um that will get put to Great use but as I said I want to look at a comment from from in SDA that I got this past week because it sums up why we need to be doing tonight’s discussion notice what this individual said they said time will tell whether adventism is deceptive I personally have not read anything outside of the Bible that has

Drawn me and caused me to fall more in love with Jesus than Desire of Ages steps to Christ thoughts from the man of blessings Christ object lessons and Ministry of healing we all will come face to face with the god of love and I personally don’t want to be one who has been an accuser of the Brethren no matter what denomination one is from I’m sorry for whatever Adventists have done or said that wasn’t Christlike to anyone that visits this channel if anyone wants to try and hear a fresh version of adventism that has totally changed my life I suggest looking up Dr Tim

Jennings website and listen to his power of love series he makes more sense than most theologians I’ve heard or read blessings so there there is a common myth out there that there are fresh and better versions of adventism eventually we will be responding to Tim Jennings I’ve read his books um no they’re not any better but this type of thinking is in part why we will start addressing the various flavors if you will of adventism so because what you’re going to see this evening is that despite their various theological differences that aren’t supposed to exist because that’s a

Hallmark sign of Babylonian confusion remember all Adventists yes all Adventists I don’t care what flavor it is they all share in a great controversy world view that is what binds all of them together that is what makes somebody a Seventh Day Adventist not the seventh day Sabbath not the investigative judgment not being vegetarian great controversy Paradigm so with that said for those that do not know Ty Gibson is an SDA pastor and he’s the brains behind the organization light bears um he is a purveyor of one of these alleged fresh 21st century flavors of

Adventism like Tim Jennings um with his swan song being love love love you would think that the angels in heaven they’re not singing Holy Holy Holy but love love love um and and this idea that adventism is all about a god of love and if only Sinners knew about that God they would find everything their hearts longing for this sort of like Hallmark TV type thing but notice the mission statement before we get into this too far notice the mission stat statement of lightbearers okay they’re at the top to vindicate the beauty of God’s character okay that’s

The mission statement of this organization to vindicate the beauty of God’s character remember that as we examine okay because instead of your John lomacang or your Doug Bachelor pitch which is a more by the book sales pitch of adventism the High Gibsons of their movement use lots of philosophical word salads and modern-day psychological Buzz phrases to try and paint the product they’re selling In a Different Light the product being the great controversy worldview that’s because with the Tai Gibson flavor of adventism the vehicle for delivery of the great controversy

World worldview doesn’t come in your tried andrue B on the shelf for 40 years type of packaging Gibson is one of the modernday rebranded flavors of ad V ISM so unlike the old sty packaging on the Shelf from 40 years ago Gibson sits amongst the same product containing the identically same product as those next to him but he has a new brand identity if you will wrapped around the product to make it feel and look more appealing to a modern buyer which is why many former Adventists find it to be far more theologically dangerous than your Old Paths tried and true by the book

Adventism that isn’t afraid to say it as it is and it’s why we’ve had so many viewers request that we address this so that’s what we’re going to be looking at this evening all right but the thesis for tonight we always like to start with a thesis because we’re going to get lots of comments you didn’t address this you didn’t address this what about this this is the thesis for tonight okay folks to examine how one of the many flavors of Neo adventism is the same old product wrapped in a new and fancy Packaging particularly with regards to the nature

And condition of man we will get to uh more Tai Gibson this same like I said the same talk in part two but we’re going to focus on the first part of his talk titled Suffering The Suffering servant where before getting into the Adventist Jesus he talks about the nature and condition of man okay because there are a lot of people out there that point to this pocket of the movement to try and downplay certain aspects of Advent ISM to claim the movement’s changed um like the comment we looked at earlier no it hasn’t the root is still the same this stream of adventism still

Shills the poison pill of the great controversy worldview despite its buttoned up modern feeling approach so now I’ve talked to a I’ve talked a number of times on this platform about one of the central aspects of the great controversy worldview so we’re going to do some some ground work here like we typically do I’ve talked about uh number of aspects of this worldview which is that the whole thing centers around God having to vindicate his character against accusations made against him from Satan everything in their worldview centers back to this which is precisely

Why the lightbearers mission statement is what it is it’s not coming from scripture but from the Fountain Head of the great controversy Paradigm Ellen White so first notice The Ellen White SDA Bible commentary on John 1 quote Christ left his position in the Heavenly courts and came to this earth to live the life of human beings this sacrifice he made in order to show that Satan’s charge against God is false that it is possible for man to obey the laws of God’s kingdom equal with the father honored and adored by the Angels in our behalf Christ humbled himself and came

To this earth to live a life of loneliness and poverty to be a man of Sorrows and acquainted with grief yet the stamp of divinity was upon his Humanity he came as a Divine teacher to uplift human beings to increase their physical mental and spiritual efficiency close quote Yeah equal with the father after being exalted to be made equal not ontologically equal from eternity past remember that again mind character and personality volume two quote Christ came to demonstrate the fact that Humanity Allied by Living Faith to Divinity can keep all the Commandments of God he came

To make plain the immutable character of the law to declare that Disobedience and transgression can never be rewarded with eternal life he came as a man to humanity that Humanity might touch Humanity while Divinity laid hold upon the throne of God close quote yet again Desire of Ages one of the big three remember barricaded by a thus saith the Lord selected messages book three page 122 2 paragraph 2 that’s what she says this book barricaded by a thus sayith the Lord quote in the opening of the great controversy so when in the opening of the great controversy Satan had declared

That the law of God could not be obeyed that Justice was inconsistent with mercy and that should the law be broken it’d be impossible for The Sinner to be pardoned every sin must meet its punishment urged Satan and if God should remit the punishment of sin he would would not be a god of Truth and Justice when men broke the law of God and defiled and defied his will Satan exalted it was proved he declared that the law could not be obeyed man could not be forgiven close quote so in the Adventist worldview part of why Jesus incarnated was because Satan was supposedly making accusations

Against God and what was the accusation not possible to keep the Ten Commandments Jesus then demonstrated that this accusation is false because he did it and since he took on the same identical nature that we have a fallen one that proved that Fallen Sinners can keep the Ten Commandments perfectly this is the gospel of adventism this is supposedly part of the Revelation 14 Everlasting gospel that’s why Jesus incarnated one of the reasons to silence these accusations to come and prove no that accusation is false the Bible know nowhere says this folks the

Bible nowhere says Jesus incarnated to silence some accusations of Satan in a pre-earth origin story and this amongst a host of other things are all ultimately about one thing let’s see what that is okay testimonies for the church volume Five page 746 quote just before us is the closing struggle of the great controversy when with all power and signs and lying wonders and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness Satan is to work to misrepresent the character of God that he may seduce if it were possible even the elect if there was ever a people in

Need of constantly increasing light from Heaven it is the people that in this time of peril God is called to be the depositories of his holy law and to vindicate his character before the world close quote the central focus of the great controversy worldview is that God is on trial and his character needs Vindicated and how does that happen by keeping the law of God Like Jesus did to silence the accusations of Satan that the Ten Commandments can’t be kept that God is a tyrant Etc so in the light Bear’s mission statement says that they’re about vindicating the character of God this is

What they mean they can package it in a nice you know modern packaging that looks cool but it’s the same old Adventist product with a different sales pitch and skin nowhere does Scripture say that Satan was making accusations against God’s law in heaven prior to the creation of the earth that Jesus then incarnated to silence these accusations and vindicate the character of God then he opened the door for you to be able to come to him and receive a hardware upgrade where you can do like he did and also silence those accusations and that by doing so you

Side with Jesus in a great controversy this great Cosmic conflict that he’s in with Satan it’s not coming from scripture No matter how much they huff and puff and cherry-pick scripture like Ellen did the the elect being deceived has nothing to do with the character of God their own official Source documents reviewing heral Ellen White James White Etc all openly state that this is present truth knowledge for a special people at the End of Time the apostles did not have a great controversy worldview no one before Ellen did so remember that as we listen Okay the

Mission of this guy’s organization is rooted in the great controversy not the Bible okay here we go biblical narrative as we move from Genesis to Revelation something amazing emerges we discover that Within the horrors of the human predicament in which all of us are involved that our situation is deeply internal before it is manifestly external which is another way of saying that our predicament is first psychological and then behavioral and all the false religions of the world wherever they manifest are engaged in behavior modification that misses the

Heart that avoids the deeply internal issues that actuate the behavioral issues and we wonder why people keep running from the church when they find themselves over and over again continually involved in the same destructive and obsessive and addictive Cycles they can’t seem to break free and the promise that the Church offers comes short of reaching to the deeply internal issues that give rise to the behavioral issues okay he says all the false religions of the world are focused on behavior modification Ty this is adventism that’s adventism which is why this claim

Is so ironic because you’re right that all the false religions of the world embrac this idea of some in some form or fashion which is in part why adventism is a false religion so you’re actually correct ironically Adventist theology proper is about Sin being a behavioral issue and if you can just get that cleaned up you can have a total character you know perfect character where you’re 100% Christlike that’s what they’re all trying to get to the erroneous Adventist view of the nature of man is the issue this is also why people like Dennis preby and others

Take umage with this flavor of adventism claiming to be Adventist because when you make a statement like this that flies in the face of SDA Systematic Theology you create quite the conundrum as we’re going to see but one quick thing Ty scripture nowhere says that man’s problem is psychological man problem is natural and inherent and that touches upon his psyche but that’s not the core issue either and man needs to be redeemed to eventually be glorified that’s the issue there has to be a change a change in man’s actual nature in his being and this will indeed impact the

Psyche but the psyche is on the same tier as the behavior it’s not the roote issue nevertheless one of the core components to the worldview that light Bears is is trying to get people to adopt includes the idea that Jesus incarnated to silence the accusations of Satan and did so by incarnating into Fallen human flesh no different than you and I and it was his ability to keep the law perfectly in that Fallen flesh that silenced Satan’s accusations and demonstrated to the world that the same can be done by you and me sin is strictly behavioral in the

Great controversy Paradigm sir and it’s totally about behavior modification not a change in one’s nature which then results in a change in Behavior because Ty you can’t square that with Ellen White or or rather uh uh you you can’t Square what Ellen White said with what you just said without making Jesus a sinner here’s why notice Desire of Ages again folks barricaded by a thus saith the Lord page 112 quote of the vast throng at the Jordan few except John discerned the heavenly vision yet the solity of the divine presence rested upon the assembly the people stood silently

Gazing upon Christ his form was bathed in the light that ever surrounds the Throne of God his upturned face was glorified as they had never before seen the face of man from The Open Heavens a voice was heard saying this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased these words of confirmation were given to inspire faith in those who witnessed the and to strengthen the Savior for his mission no it wasn’t this is Jesus’s inauguration as a as a priest and for his ministry which had to happen with they just completely missed that because they think he was inaugurated as a

Priest at his Ascension but nevertheless notwithstanding that the sins of a guilty world were laid upon upon Christ notwithstanding the humiliation of taking upon himself our fallen nature The Voice from Heaven declared him to be the son of the Eternal close quote so despite erroneously claiming that the sins of the world were placed on Christ at his baptism she plainly says that the avenus Jesus incarnated into Fallen flesh he took upon himself our fallen nature and that was identical to what we have in that respect so if that is the case which she’s a higher

Authority than Ty Gibson if that’s the case and you’re saying Tai that sin is more than behavioral in the SDA system it’s something intrinsic to man’s being and works itself outward into Behavior then Jesus was a sinner with an inward sinful nature the point being it doesn’t work what you just said does not square away with Ellen’s claim which is precisely why Adventist theology proper sides with Ellen White and not with this Neo adventism stuff which they teach that sin is strictly behavioral not a a part of man’s nature we looked at that in the Dennis pre clip

Or or not the clip of the full stream and Jesus had to be identical in nature as we are but never exhibited a character behavioral flaw which demonstrated that a fallen human can keep the law perfectly when relying on the power of the Holy Spirit like Jesus did and just so we are clear that this isn’t some one-off statement being looked at in isolation Spirit of Prophecy Volume 2 page 39 quote it was in order it was in the order of God that Christ should take upon himself the form and nature of Fallen man that he might be made perfect through suffering and himself endure the

Strength of Satan’s Fierce temptations that he might understand how to sucker those who should be tempted the faith of men in Christ as the Messiah was not to rest on the evidences of sight and they believe on him because of his personal attractions but because of the Excellence of character found in him ah which never had been found neither could be in another all Who Loved virtue Purity and Holiness would be drawn to Christ remember this folks this is giving you insight into the Adventist view of the nature of man this is the sort of thing that Ty

Gibson and folks put forth oh if they could just see how the beautiful character and nature of God oh they would just be attracted to him no folk that this is not what the Bible teaches all Who Loved virtue Purity and Holiness would be drawn to Christ and would be sufficient uh would see sufficient evidence of his being the Messiah foretold by prophecy that should come those who thus trusted in the word of God would receive the benefits of the teachings of Christ and finally of his atonement close quote so the Ellen White Ellen White says that it was God’s will

For Jesus to Incarnate in the form and nature of Fallen man and this was necessary so that Christ could assist that’s what the word sucker means so that Christ could assist those who are tempted by Satan to be able to overcome just like he did they believe on him because of his excellence and character and by doing so they’ll be benefited by Christ teaching which in adventism includes the idea of total character Perfection which will then result in a person finally receiving the benefits of Christ’s atonement so him taking on a fallen nature just like us was necessary in all

Of this because it goes back to Jesus incarnating to silence the accusations of Satan and demonstrate that Fallen man can keep the law perfectly which is why consistent Adventist theology teaches that sin is behavioral and nothing about one’s nature needs to be changed to accomplish that to further prove this we’ve looked at this quote before notice what she says in the great controversy on page 623 quote now while our great high priest is making the atonement for us we should seek to become perfect in Christ not even by a thought could Our Savior be

Brought to yield to the power of Temptation Satan finds in human hearts some point where he can gain a foothold some sinful desire is cherished by means of which his Temptations assert their power but Christ declared of himself the Prince of this world cometh and hath nothing in me John 14:30 Satan could find nothing in the Son of God that would enable him to gain the victory he had kept his father’s Commandments and there was no sin in him that Satan could use to his Advantage this is the condition in which those must be found who shall stand in

The time of trouble close quote is that clear what condition what condition folks the condition Christ was in so in the last quote she talked about the atonement eventually being applied applied to an individual which is in reference to the second phase of the atonement they teach regarding the investigative judgment so while Jesus is doing this work one must get to a state of character Perfection that Jesus was in complete and total Perfection otherwise they won’t be able to stand in the time of trouble and in their system the time of trouble’s looming and just around the

Corner so hurry hurry hurry that’s the overall messaging Jesus is coming Get Ready Get Ready Get Ready that’s what the get ready is you got a lot of work to do remember the vision uh uh June 27 1850 Christ is coming this is during the seven seven month movement or or sorry the the the during the seven-year period you got to hurry the people have just heard the third Angel’s message it’s June he’s coming in October they got a lot of work to do so make sure you get that folks Satan couldn’t find anything in Jesus to cause him to stumble he kept the law perfectly

This is the condition a person has to find themselves in if they want to stand in the coming time of trouble that every generation of sdas think will happen in their lifetime so when you get Adventists like T Ty Gibson and this new wave that want to try and downplay this and say stuff likeoh well we’re all Sinners understand they either do not know the Adventist system well enough which means the mission statement of your organization shouldn’t be about trying to spread this worldview or they’re trying to make adventism more palatable by using a

Different approach to try and get converts to the system where this stuff will get spilled over onto them later down the road more of a drip feed approach instead of just putting it all out there so and and don’t let them fool you you know you’ll get sdas well perfect in Christ doesn’t mean totally perfect what condition was Jesus in I rest my case on top of all of that to demonstrate further how all of the stuff is a system and you have to have it all to be consistent notice what she claims Regarding why Jesus hasn’t returned yet great controversy page 458

Quote it was not the will of God that Israel should wander 40 years in the wilderness he desired to lead them directly to the land of Canaan and establish them there a holy happy people but they could not enter in because of unbelief Hebrews 3:19 because of their backsliding and apostasy they perished in the desert and others were raised up to enter the promised land in like manner it was not the will of God that the coming of Christ should be so long delayed and his people should remain so many years in this world of sin and sorrow but unbelief separated them from

God as they refused to do the work which he had appointed them others were raised up that’s the SDA Church to Proclaim this message meaning the Three Angels messages in Mercy to the world Jesus delays his coming that Sinners may have an opportunity to hear the warning and find in him a shelter before the wrath of God shall be poured out close quote notice how they read everything eschatologically Hebrews 3:19 well there’s an eschatological parallel there that’s what’s going to happen in the end times everything just like we saw with John lumang a couple weeks ago First

Kings 18 it’s eschatological everything they read the whole Bible folks through the lens of eschatology so Christ would have returned hundreds of years ago and it wasn’t God’s will for the the second coming to be delayed but Christians just weren’t obeying God good enough so in the 19th century he raised up the SDA Church to begin proclaiming the Three Angels messages which is the final warning message to the world that will serve as their shelter and safety before God’s Wrath is poured out just think of the problems this creates folks Revelation was around long before the

SDA Church they’re saying that Revelation 14 is a special end times message for a special people there’s all these things that have to happen they claim in in the Revelation 14 that are not conditional you know they’ll say some stuff that Ellen said was conditional but this stuff is not conditional yet Jesus wanted to wanted to return hundreds of years before the Three Angels messages were even understood just man centered mess but again this is what they mean when they’re talking about get ready for Jesus’s soon return and Christians hear this and they’re like I am ready I’m I’m

In Christ I’m resting in what are you talking about and they’ll just go around and use these talking points and be like oh we’re all about the second coming no what you’re really about is you got to believe this system to be ready for the return of Christ or you’re not going to be ready you’re one of these nominal Christians that’s cheap Grace you don’t actually understand there’s a lot of work you got to do that’s what’s going on here and again remember the June 27 1850 Vision Ellen claimed that the angel from God told her Get Ready Get Ready Get Ready time could

Only last but a little while longer and unlike those who had years to work on their character Perfection cleaning up their diet Etc the new converts would have to accomplish what those veterans did only in a few short months but Jesus has delayed his return because not enough Adventists have gotten to a state of character Perfection yet and not enough of the world has heard this message because not enough Adventists have been doing their job evangelizing which is why you can listen to Ted Wilson for example at the GC session from San Antonio like a

Decade ago where he’s lambasting them raking them over the coals and he basically says we wouldn’t even be here for another GC session if you guys were doing your job because they actually understand this stuff they’re not part of this new wave that tried to just well we’re just going to ignore that stuff and not see how it’s a part of the bigger picture but furthermore in the same vein the infamous Christ uh Christ object lessons quote that all the last generation proponents like Dennis preby cling to for dear life quote when the fruit is brought forth

Immediately he putteth in the sickle because the Harvest is come Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of himself in his church remember you got it before the time of Trouble Comes you have to get to a character that was just like Jesus’s perfect that’s what he’s waiting for when the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in his people then he will come to claim them as his own it is the privilege of every Christian not only to look for but to hasten the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ we all who profess his name

Bearing fruit to his glory how quickly the whole world would be swn with the seed of the Gospel meaning The Three Angels gospel not the Christian Gospel which is actually what the Three Angels gospel is they’ve just taken that phrase and inserted all sorts of stuff into it that’s not there quickly the last great harvest would be ripened and Christ would come to gather the precious grain close quote and all the liberal sdas groan in unison and roll their eyes because they claim is that no no no she wasn’t talking about sinless perfectionism and developing a totally perfect character

Like Jesus she’s just saying to set aside our differences and be loving that’s what the guys over at Spectrum say which as a nice cope to make you feel better but no like we looked at previously in order to be able to stand in the time of trouble which is not a conditional prophecy it’s coming you’ll have to have arrived at the same state that Jesus was in totally perfect with nothing found in him that Satan could tempt because again sin is behavioral it’s actions it’s it’s only deed deeds and actions and Jesus never acted upon any of that so therefore he never sinned

Because again it goes back to in their view sin is strictly behavioral now to prove this even more let’s look at the Sabbath School quarterly this is what for those that don’t know the SDA Church teaches from each week globally you ended on Saturday with the Sabbath School class but you have stuff each day of the week to look over and study so this is from July 6 n or July 26 1996 okay it’s from the section further study materials quote the pre-advent Judgment that’s the investigative judgment declares irrevocably saved uh uh uh yeah declares irrevocably saved those who

Have been consistently enjoying present salvation in Christ the pre-advent Judgment eternally vind indicates Believers whose sins have previously been forgiven in this judgment approval is given to those who by constantly receiving the impartation of Christ righteousness are experiencing victory over sin ah there’s that buzz phrase my brother CMB was on a few uh weeks ago we talked about the great controversy theme remember that’s one of the pillars victory over sin some Adventists love to try and say this just means you’re making progress now look at what it said the

Previous day okay July 25th why is the pre-advent Judgment important to you God’s seal is given to those who live in close Union with Christ the seal is his name and his father’s name written on their foreheads Revelation 14:1 Christ’s name and the father’s name are symbols of their character see Christ object lessons page 330 those who were sealed before the second coming of Jesus will be spiritually spotless they will wear the white robe of Christ’s righteousness and will reflect his character in all they do close quote this movement folks does not

Understand Union with Christ because like everything else it’s twisted by filtering it through the great controversy worldview to Define it the Bible defines Union with Christ as some conditional upon Christ Alone not something that’s up in the air to be determined but what does it say the Seal of God in the forehead is a symbol for those who have have the character of God in their mind thus they are spiritually spotless spotless spotless spotless I’m just just Advent us spotless not trying your best spotless they will reflect Christ’s character in
